Head of IT & Development

Amsterdam
Full-time
Permanent employee

The Candidate

We are looking for an experienced Head IT & Development professional with a strong technical background and an excellent understanding of how technology can be aligned with business needs. You have a solid understanding of software development and experience working closely with developers and technical teams. At the same time, you are able to understand and map business processes, identify what business needs are, and translate those needs into practical technology solutions. You are comfortable taking ownership, making decisions, and setting priorities rather than focusing only on the technical side of IT. Experience in a fast-growing, commercial and/or trading environment would be a strong advantage.

The Requirements

Caely is constantly expanding its products and services portfolio as well as its worldwide geographical presence. To support this growth, ongoing agile development of our information systems is key. And our IT infrastructure needs to be scaled up globally.
As Head of IT, you will be responsible for making sure our technology supports the needs of Caely's growth strategy. You will work closely with different teams to understand their challenges and priorities and translate them into clear technical solutions and projects. You will lead and support the software development team, set priorities, and ensure that development work is perfectly aligned with business requirements. In addition, you will ensure seamless integration of information systems of acquired companies.
Alongside development, you will oversee the wider IT function, including internal IT support, external IT providers, cybersecurity, and core business systems. This is a broad leadership role for someone who can combine technical knowledge with strong business understanding and take ownership of the company's IT environment.

The Offer

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in IT & Software Development, engineering, or a similar technical field, with experience leading developers or technical teams.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business & IT, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of software development and the ability to work effectively with developers and technical teams.
  • Strong business understanding, with the ability to understand business processes and translate business requirements into practical technology solutions.
  • Experience managing external IT providers and overseeing areas such as IT infrastructure, cybersecurity, and business systems.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical teams.
  • Ability to work independently, take ownership of the IT function, and drive projects and priorities forward.
  • Living in or near Amsterdam.
